The 6-4 Valiants entered the CIF playoffs to take on Santa Paula High School. St. Genevieve put fourth their best effort yet, with an impressive 35-6 victory over a favored Santa Paula football team. The win advances St. Genevieve to take on one of the top overall seeds St. Margaret's next Friday. (Destination to be determined)

The game began with multiple squandered opportunities for the Valiants. Santa Paula gave up a big kick return ran back to their own 20 by a speedy Zellie Henderson and a fumble forced by the Valiant defense but the Valiants failed to capitalize and came away with no points.

As the game continued, it was apparent that both teams relied heavily on their running backs. For St. Genevieve it was Matthew Cecil and for Santa Paula Noah Magana.

The game was dead locked at 0-0 before half when Valiant Quarterback Jessie Camacho found some running room on a few quarterback draws followed by a 35 yard touchdown pass to Terrell Stanley to put the Valiants up 6-0 heading into the locker room at half.

The 2nd half was all St. Genevieve. The defense played lights out forcing turnovers and 4th and long situations. "I was very proud of them tonight" said defensive coordinator George Maiale. "Those kids have alot of heart to do what they did out there in a playoff situation."

Matt Cecil and Brian Devereaux found running room in the second half combining for over 150 yards on the ground and a couple of touchdowns.

Coach Brent Huff and the Valiant football team head to the 2nd round of the CIF playoffs for the second straight year in a row to take on a St. Margaret's. Check back for media and information on next week's playoff game.
